Man’s Best Friend?
What would you do if a stray rabid dog was stealing ducks from your compound? Maybe yell, maybe hide (the dog’s foaming at the mouth). The one thing you can be sure of, I wouldn’t be biting it. But that’s just what a man in Southern India did. He caught hold of the dog, wrestled the duck away, and then bit the dog hard enough to draw blood. The dog died but the main didn’t really win. He ended up in hospital being treated for rabies. (Man Bites Dog)
Meanwhile, in Canada, another man found out it’s risky business keeping a pet cobra. The cobra failed to adhere to the ‘never bite the hand that feds you’ rule and took a bit, causing massive damage and scarring to the owner’s hand and arm. No venom was released but neurotoxins in the cobra’s saliva has caused serious tissue damage. (Snake Bites Man)
And if you think you have a lousy job, then spare a thought for this professional nitpicker. Yes, the woman is a lice debugger and apparently a very good one. Armed with magnifying glass, fine-toothed metal comb, head lamp, and wooden barbecue skewers, she will answer the call from parents at their wits end. (Lice Work, If You Can Get It)
Doctors in the News
Talk about exposure. A patient goes into hospital for gallbladder surgery and gets his genitalia snapped (guess that’s better than snipped) by the surgeon’s cell phone. Why? Because the patient’s penis had ‘Hot Rod’ tattooed on it. Might have seemed funny at the time, but I don’t think the surgeons laughing anymore. He has since been suspended from the hospital. (Snapped penis causes suspension)
Exposure of another kind is striking a hospital in Rhode Island where the surgeons are having trouble finding the right operating site. Over the past twelve months, there have been three brain surgeries performed on the wrong side of the brain. And this is despite the fact that a comprehensive operating room precautions policy was implemented a few years ago to prevent this ‘wrong-site surgery’ syndrome. What ever happened to X marks the spot? (Trial of errors led to 3 wrong brain surgeries)
And finally
Here’s one for the boys…

So after reading about the penis “snapping” and the ‘nutty buddy’, I’m REALLY glad I’m not a guy or I think I’d be feeling a bit wobbly right now.
Great bunch of offbeat stories.

Yeah, the guys got hit below the belt a little on this Sunday Sidebar…but at least the first wasn’t snipped and the nutty buddy is ‘apparently’ guaranteed not to do damage…
by the way, you’d be amazed at the number of videos on youtube with guys doing their own tests of the nutty buddy…one had his wife firing the pitching machine and the ball yet hitting him in the stomach…you’ve really got to wonder … why?
happy holidays
