Not Just Fat and Loud - Dirty, Too
A new study reports that Americans do not always wash their hands after using public bathroom facilities. 66% of men and 88% of women do wash their hands, but the overall rates have apparently dropped a few percentage points since the last poll conducted in 2005.
Food Intolerance Fantasies
According to experts, many folks imagine that they have food intolerances when they really don’t. Wheat and dairy are two popular examples, but there is also the woman I witnessed screaming at a waiter because he had the audacity to serve romaine instead of iceberg. Evidently she was “allergic” to the offending leaf. Fortunately, she spit on the salad and stomped out of the restaurant. We missed her.
Animal-Human Hybrid Stem Cell Research
Here’s one way to get around stem cell shortages: just make animal-human hybrid cells. It’s actually not as Frankenfreak or unethical as it sounds. If you haven’t subscribed to the Lancet yet, you’re a dork. It’s free, so scoot.

The survey about washing hands in Public is interesting for what it omits.
From the Report:
“The researchers could not account for why people appear to be washing their hands less in public bathrooms. And they admitted that because the research was done in different venues, it was not scientifically valid.”
It’s really a no-brainer whey people wash their hands less in some places than others.
The lowest incidence of hand-washing was at the men’s room of Turner Field in Atlanta…one of the dirtiest facilities. People would rather take the chance with the dirt already on their hands, than pick up something worse in a place like a dirty washroom. In addition, the macho atmosphere and prevailing homophobia in sports venues encourages men to flee the public washroom as quick as possible…even with dirty hands…out of fear they will be labeled “gay” for loitering in the men’s room.
My theory anyway.

Chin, watch out, someone might accuse you of being politically incorrect! ;)
I can’t resist noting some of these “studies” that manage to make the front page headlines. I think your point about the facilities being dirty is spot on. I personally will avoid touching grimy handles, faucets, etc. and rely on paper napkins or my antibacterial gel if the restroom is really dirty.
