Is the Cure for Compulsive Gambling This Simple?

Compulsive gamblers who supplemented with the amino acid N-acetyl cysteine reported a significant reduction in the urge to bet the farm. The amino acid may impact the brain’s reward center via the chemical glutamate, which would explain why the supplement was highly effective for 60% of the gamblers. The study was double-blind and placebo-controlled, but super wee, so (all together now) … further research is needed!
Previous studies in animals have indicated that this amino acid supplement may help quell drug cravings. According to the Wiki, N-acetyl cysteine may boost immunity in AIDs patients, reduce ethanol hangovers when taken in conjunction with vitamins C and B1, support healthy renal function, and reduce the symptoms of COPD. But none of these claims have been conclusively substantiated (here’s one recent study).

THERE IS NO KNOWN CURE FOR COMPULSIVE GAMBLING. ALTHOUGH A PERSON CAN STOP GAMBLING IF HE OR SHE IS WILLING TO GO TO GA . GA TEACHES PEOPLE HOW TO STOP. IF A PERSON STOPS GOING TO GA MEETINGS , IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE PERSON RETURNS TO GAMBLING. COMPULSIVE GAMBLING IS AN SICKNESS. IT IS NOT A MONEY PROBLEM, IT IS AN EMOTIONAL AND THOUGHT PROCESSING PROBLEM. THE PERSON HAS TO ACCEPT THEY ARE DIFFERENT FROM THERE FELLOWS AND NEED TO FOLLOW A 12 STEP RECOVERY PROGRAM BASED ON SPIRITUAL PRINCABLES, NOT {RELIGIOUS} . THERE IS MUCH CONFUSION BETWEEN THE TWO. IN MY EXPERIENCE A PERSON CAN RECOVER AND LIVE HAPPILY AS LONG AS THE PERSON CHANGES THERE BELIEF SYSTEMS AND IS WILLING TO DO WHAT IT TAKES TO STAY CLEAN.
ALL THE BEST MATT
