Almost ALL DIY Tooth Whitening Kits are Dangerous: BBC

The BBC is currently running a story about and independent lab in the U.K. that tested 16 do it yourself teeth whitening kits. They found that 14(!) of them contain illegal levels of Hydrogen Peroxide. Like, really illegal levels.
In one case the legal limit was exceeded by a factor of 230 times.
Hydrogen peroxide, commonly used as a hair dye, can aggravate gum disease and cause sensitive teeth - or even chemical burns to the mouth.

Oh please. Watching the stands at Wimbledon tennis match, if there is one group of people who need to either brush their teeth or use a whitener product, it is the English. So many with yellow teeth. Whew…
As for:
A British Dental Association spokesperson said: “It is important any patient considering having their teeth whitened consults their dentist, who will examine their mouth properly, take a full medical history and discuss treatment options.”
What would you expect a dentist to say [lol]…
I’ve used carbamide peroxide (what they really use in these products, not hydrogen peroxide) on/off for years in concentrations as high as 23% for years with no noticeable damage. If you have a healthily mouth, you shouldn’t have a problem with moderate use. If you don’t then you SHOULD go to a dentist first.
You can buy gel tubes of this stuff for as little as about $2.50 on the web. What you do need is a good set of trays. I’ve had some made through a web order place but they never come out as good as what the dentist makes.
