Easy Health Tip #43: Go Ceramic
Bad: eating fast food three times a week.
Worse: eating mutagens with your chicken fries.
Do your microwave reheats on a real plate, folks. (Go for ceramics.) Toxins released from Styrofoams and plastics are nasty stuff for which we don’t know the long-term repercussions of use.
This is a hot-button issue for both plastics manufacturers and consumer advocate groups. The plastics camp says that no tests have shown toxic material migration into food. The consumerists say that’s exactly right, and they want proof of safety (cheeky, eh?).
When heating up containers made with things like Dioxin, which causes birth defects, is a known teratogenic & mutagen, and suspected carcinogen; it’s what was so toxic in (!)Agent Orange, you’re better safe than sorry.
So break out the fine china, it’s reheated pizza tonight!

I tried using ceramic instead of Styrofoam when microwaving a hot dog, and I found a lot less hot dog juice on the plate!
