Healthline’s Symptom Search is Like Google for Your Misery
Healthline.com is offering a symptom search feature. It’s fairly straightforward. You enter your symptoms and it returns you a list of things you could have. Enter more and the list narrows.
For instance, I entered itchy eyes and then runny nose. It returned 3 results, one of which was allergic rhinitis. Spot-on for what I’ve got this morning. (Oh, joy!)
A word of warning here. These things are cool to get you in the ballpark knowledge-wise, but imbibe with salt. Keep in mind it may be the wrong ballpark. Your doctor hates this crap. If people were any good at self-diagnosis, (which they aren’t) they could have skipped all that school after all.
Interesting side note:
Entering “swollen anus” into the search box does not produce the avalanche of Pat Robertson references one would expect.

Reminds me of my early days in health care and the first time I looked into a Merck manual for my headache. Talk about Zebras!
But the chapter on gas is still my favorite.
