Public Service Announcement. E-Coli Outbreak In Progress; Toss Your Spinach

I got an email from my mom a few minutes ago. I thought I’d pass the warning on…
Hi, Bud,
An e-coli outbreak in raw packaged spinach has caused authorities to suggest that no one buy it and everyone should throw out what they have at home, or cook it thoroughly. We eat a ton of raw spinach at 7420 N. Amoret, so I’ll not be buying any bagged stuff; the unbagged bulk spinach is still fine.
They also suggest that other packaged lettuce/salad items should all be thoroughly washed (although that won’t do anything to germs like e-coli, so I don’t understand that bit of wisdom!), regardless of the printed info on the bag that claims the contents have already been “triple washed.”
You’ve been warned.

On CNN yesterday, they suggested that people not even try to cook it, to just toss it.
