Architectures of Control in Design

This is a very neat blog about things that are designed to make you act a specific way. The writer is engineer Dan Lockton and he likes to write about things such as putting up tall hedges at roundabouts to make people slow down more when they approach; the fact that absolutely nowhere on Amazon.com is there a way to delete your account; or the fact that Epson print cartridges have embedded software that tells them to stop functioning after a certain period of time even if they’re full.
There are some fascinating posts on the site and it looks pretty, too. Industrial design can be helpful, clever and sometimes underhanded. Dan’s discussing them all here. Find out who’s controlling your brain, after the jump!
