The World’s Most Statistically Fit Man Is Running 50 Marathons in 50 Days

by Wade Meredith on August 2nd, 2006

DK at Badwater*
How about these vital stats?

Height: 5′ 8″

Weight: 154lbs

Resting Heart Rate: 39

Percent Body Fat: 4.8%

Blood Pressure: 100/60 mm Hg

Cholesterol: 105 mg/dL.

Those remarkable numbers come from the running man himself, Dean Karnazes, who will perform 50 marathons in 50 days (wtf, omg, rsvp!?) beginning Sept. 17 at the Lewis & Clark Marathon in St Charles, Missouri.  Dean is maintaining a blog to chronicle his build-up and the eventual feat.
Endurance 50 - Sponsored by North Face (pops, it’s a Flash site)

*Oh, yeah: and that pic is of Dean running at Badwater: It’s an ultra-distance race that spans 135 miles/217km non-stop from Death Valley to Mt. Whitney, CA in temperatures up to 130F/55C. (!)

This is that guy I was telling you about. He’s doing the courses of all these marathons, but not necessarily on the same day as the official race. Probably because it’s a little tricky to find a marathon on a Wednesday…

Yeah, you and Shan said something to me about him within 36 hours of each other. He’s a really interesting crazy person.

Hey sports fans, I work for a publisher and we need photos of the 2004 Badwater event, specifically photos of Dean Karnazes and people re-fueling during the run,
We will pay. Send your low res photos to my e-amil
    and we’ll go from there.

    Thanks, Kathy
