Spin Science

This is a great little page from The Exploratorium explaining some of the basic physics behind why and how bicycles work. They cover everything from the gyroscopic motion of the wheels keeping the bike upright to what pieces are called what. They also have several neat plug-in-the-numbers calculators, like “How to calculate the stopping distance of a biker.” The best part about it is it’s all easy to read with lots of pretty pictures so I don’t end up dosing off and drooling all over my “B” key again.
Check it out after the jump.
